Sliding easily away from the eyes of the many muggles, Tom disappeared into a barrier between the platforms 9 and 10 at Kings Cross Station. He had a trolley in fornt of him with his school trunk on it to keep him fro mhaving to carry the heavy load. He smiled as he opened his eyes to see a long platform 9 3/4 which was at the moment empty. A long red engine was there though, but no steam rose from it. There was silence after the loud bustling of people getting to work outside. He pushed the trolley along all the way to the first carriage which he knew to be the Prefect's carriage for the Head Boy & Girl to brief them on their duties and what they will do on the trip. Tom was of course a Prefect, his shining silver badge with the large P on it shone in the dim light drifting onto the platform. He sighed, he was part of the magical world again, although a bit early.

April couldn't wait to get to Hogwarts and leave all her problems behind. In fact she was so eager that she had come quite early, for no real reason at all. Just to get away from the silence of her empty house. She set her trunk on a trolley and she walked through the busy kings cross stations. She walked inconspicuously through the barrier on the platform 9 and 3/4. She looked around, there was no one there, or at least no one she could see. She was certain that the prefects and the head boys and girls had to be there somewhere. She pushed her trolley along side the bright red train, thinking, not paying attention to where she was going. She pushed the trolley along side a wall and she sat down on her trunk, which was still on the trolley. She rested her elbows on her knees as she waited for some others to get there. She looked around at the very quiet platform, and she sighed lightly to herself. Why am I here?[/b] she thought to herself as she looked down at the cement floor.

As though he had appeared from nowhere, Tom moved out from the shadows right next to April. He looked down over her head at the cement "Is there some kind of show going on?" he asked her, letting a smile cross his face. Of course if he knew that April was a Gryffindor he wouldn't be talking to her, but without their school robes on it was hard to distinguish them from the rest.
Tom wasn't usually sociable but when no one else was there he didn't see why not.

April was pulled back to reality with the sound of the boys voice. She looked at him. "No, there isn't" she said quietly, still looking at him. There was something different about this boy.. But she had no idea what that could possibly be. She looked from the boy standing next to her to the train. She was still slightly in shock that someone had actually come up to talk to her, most of her friends knew that she would just get up and walk away... But she had no way out here. She was stuck. She looked back up at the boy should i introduce myself? she asked herself.

The smile he had struggled to create faded away to eb replaced by his usual blank face, emotions weren't to be shown to anyone. He leant against the wall and asked "What made yo ucome so early?" in a casual tone, but he was interested, he knew that he himself just wanted to be close to home, but why would anyone else do so.
He brought out his 13 1/2 inch wand and began to twirl it between his 2 index fingers, this made him calm.

"Anything's better than being at home." She said simply as she folded her arms over her chest. "Why are you here so early?" April asked as she looked up at him. Her eyes had a slight sparkle in them, that was caught by the lights that hung above where she was sitting. She looked back down, she wasn't normally one to talk to people, especially people she had never really seen before. She began to tap her fingers on her trunk, a nervous habbit she could never seem to stop.

"Well lets just say a crazy orphanage isn't my favourite place to hang around in." he said simply, looking over to the platform entrance wondering if Nott or Avery would be here soon.

"Oh." April said with a small understanding nod, as she looked down at the ground. It had to be about 10:30... where was everyone? She bit her lip as she looked up, she got a weird feeling in her stomach, but she decided not to pay attention to it. She looked back up at Tom again.

A loud sound came from through the barrier and it seemed ot be a chiming noise. Tom looked to the barrier, then listened and counted, only 9 chimes, so only an hour had passed. The sound had only come through for one reason, and that reason was aparant when a elderly lady and a younger man came through, Tom recognised the lasy as the one who pushed the trolley, and the man was probably the driver. Tom sighed, no one yet...

Wow... who knew that meating a new boy, could be completely awkward.. April thought to herself, knowing that Tom would not be able to read her thoughts. She had tought herself over the summer how to prevent people from getting inside her head, and she was pretty good at it. She hated how her friends would constantly know she was sad. She didn't want to live like that anymore. She looked up at the huge clock, and then over at Tom for a second. Then finally she looked down at her shoes.

Without actually saying anything to the girl he turned and walked back towards the carriage, the Prefects one that is. He then continued to lean against the red structure, his glass on the cold glass. His wand still in hand began to point at a few different flies buzzing up around the rafters, then he hit oen of the pigeons, it was dead before it hit the floor. He wasn't even speaking though, he never said the spells outloud.
